今回はオークランド出身のフォトグラファーのSteve Roweを紹介します。彼はまだ21歳で、SWMRSを撮り続けています。

これらの写真で一番伝えたいことはどんなことですか？
A
僕にとって、まるでバンドと一緒に（ツアーなどを）回っているような感情をオーディエンスに与えることが重要なんだ。ショーの写真を撮るだけじゃなくて、コンサートの合間の写真も撮りたい。感情を捉えるのが好きなんだ。大抵はみんなが最後には楽しくいられるような。

それを実践するために、どのように撮りましたか？
A
マニュアルのフィルム写真を使っている。だから、写真を撮るときには、注意深くなる必要がある。（まだ勉強中なんだけどね笑）。それから特別な瞬間やシーンを探している。それらはたくさんあるんだ。

どんなカメラを使っていますか？
A
Nikon FM10を使ってる。フィルムだよ。僕はこれをマムのガレージで見つけたんだ。彼女が僕と同じ年齢の時に使っていたものなんだ。僕はフィルム写真が大好きなんだ。というのも、特別に見えるし、デジタルよりもパーソナルに感じられるんだ。

探求している写真のテーマは何ですか？
A
いつだって、僕は写真を撮りに行ってる。新しい何かを学び続け、実践し続けている。最新の旅では、友達でもあるSWMRSの写真を撮っている間、行く先々の景色を捉えることに集中していた。

影響を受けたアーティストは誰ですか？
A
影響を受けるアーティストはたくさんいるよ。インスタグラムなら簡単に素晴らしい写真を撮る人々を見つけることができる。それから、SWMRSは素晴らしいインスピレーションの源だね。彼らはクリエイティブだし、かなりハードに働く、それが彼らを追いかける理由だよ。
他のアーティストでは、Seb (SWMRS), Lauren Webster, Kenny Hurtado, Keegan Gibbs, Wolfgang Tillmans, Josh Zucker, Dane Peterson, Mark Oblow, それからユースであればみんなね。

What is the most important thing that you want to communicate to listeners through these photos?
A
For me, it is important to give my audience a feeling of what it is like to be on the road with the band. Not only do I want to capture photos of the shows, but I want to get photos of what we do in between concerts! I like to capture the emotions, mostly ends up being all the fun we have.
Q
For that , how did you try to take these photos?
A
I do manual film photography, so when taking photos I need to be really selective (I’m still practicing that haha) and I look for the special moments/scenes.. There are a lot of those.

What camera do you use and why?
A
I use a Nikon FM10. It’s film. I found it in my mom’s garage, it was hers from when she was my age. I love film because it has a special look to it, and it seems more personal than digital, to me.

What is the theme you are looking for through taking photos?
A
Every time I go to take photos, I am learning something new and trying to practice something. This last trip I was really looking to capture the scenery of the places we went while taking photos of my friends (SWMRS).

What artists inspire you?
A
There are so many artists out there that inspire me.. With Instagram it’s so easy to find people that take amazing photos. I really look to SWMRS as a great inspiration- they are so creative, and work really hard, it is inspiring to see that pay off for them. Some other artists that I draw inspiration from are: Seb (of SWMRS), Lauren Webster, Kenny Hurtado, Keegan Gibbs, Wolfgang Tillmans, Josh Zucker, Dane Peterson, Mark Oblow, and everyone at What Youth.
