Mothership Psychosisの音楽はもっとも新しく、今の時代が必要としている音楽である。
デジタル社会が進展し、音楽の分野では、EDMをはじめとするエレクトロニックミュージックが大衆化した。電子機器はダイレクトに消費者を刺激することを可能にした。その音楽は効率よく、人を興奮させたり、悲しませたり、喜ばせることができた。そこでは、ギターやドラムといった楽器は必要とされなかった。その結果、失われたのが、あたたかみのある音、過去から連なる音だった。
Randalは、70年代風のプロダクションやジャズからの影響（特にインプロヴィゼーション）を用いてそれを蘇らせようとしている。あまりに効率主義すぎたポストモダニズムの時代において、人々とのつながりが再び意味を持ち始めている。今、必要とされているのはフューチャリズムではなく、60-70年代のユースカルチャーのような連帯感である。さらに言えば、グローバルの時代においてはコミュニティは、開放的であることが意味をなす。僕らは国家の枠組みを越えて、知識を共有して共に発展していけるからだ。

Mothership Psychosis’s music is extremely novel, which in this day and age makes it the kind of music that we really need. As digital society has progressed, EDM and electronic music have been popularized. Electronic devices have made it possible to stimulate consumers more directly. This music can efficiently excite people, make us mourn, or bring delight. As such, musical instruments such as guitars and drums are not actually necessary. Consequently though, we left behind tones that had warmth and the sounds of the past.
Randal is attempting to revive that sound, both by being influenced by, and making use of, 70’s style production and jazz (especially improvisation). In this postmodern era with its excessive emphasis on efficiency, the connections between people are once again starting to hold greater significance. What is needed now is not futurism, it’s a youth culture like that of the 60s and 70s and a sense of solidarity. Furthermore, in this global era, open-mindedness makes sense for communities. By going beyond the framework of nations and by sharing knowledge, we are better able to grow and develop.
These new values are also those Hedi Slimane is presenting through fashion. And Randal is doing the same, but through music. I want you to listen to “Whyte” first. You’ll likely have your breath taken away by the guitar solo and be overwhelmed by the outro. After you finish listening to it, you’ll be able to feel the kindness and warmth of the music, and a sense of infinite possibilities in your mind.

That pain is a wonderful tool for an artist. Emotions are just paint and you need to find your brush.

Please teach me from the perspective of music , lyrics and artwork.

I tried to make these songs sound like I feel. You have to play like someone who’s drowning, struggling to break the surface.

Why did you choose Mothership Psychosis as your band name?
A
It felt right.

What is the theme you are looking for through making music?
A
I want to bring back certain bits of sound from the jazz era.

A
Queens of the stone age, Pink Floyd, Grizzly Bear, David Bowie, and a lot of others.

What is the news from you to the viewers？
A
The news from me is that everything is good when you don’t allow yourself to burden your daily life with worry. Do what you can to be easy on yourself.

What is the theme of your fashion style?
A
My fashion theme is that whatever fits looks good, if you know what to put next to it.

How did you feel on Hedi’s show as a model?
A
Hedi’s show is lovely. His collections always impress me when I get a good look at everything he’s designed for the show. It’s all stuff I’d probably wear outside of that, if only I could find such cool clothes.
