♪PROFILE♪
Minthe Prementha is a rock project led by California artist Randal Ferguson. Prior to 2020, the band performed under the name Mothership Psychosis and released the album ‘Mourning To Afternoon’. In 2020, the band launched the singles ‘Magic’ and ‘Heavy Heart’ under the new name.
Minthe Prementhaはカリフォルニア州出身のアーティスト、Randal Fergusonを中心に活動しているロックプロジェクト。2020年以前は、Mothership Psychosisの名称で活動をしており、アルバム ‘Mourning To Afternoon’ を発表。2020年には、新しいバンド名にて、シングル ‘Magic’と‘Heavy Heart’をリリースしている。
♪INTRODUCTION♪
Randal participated in Hedi’s shows when he was at Saint Laurent Paris, and I’ve been in touch with him since then. And now, specially for this blog, he has shared with us live videos recorded in the studio. The sound was mixed by Randal just like a real recording. I hope you enjoy this wonderful performance of two songs, the classic ‘Whyte’ from the Mothership Psychosis era and the single ‘Magic’ from Minthe Prementha.

Would you tell us why you changed the name of your band?
A
I think the Era of Mothership Psychosis is over. The name no longer suits me as a songwriter or who I am as a person. I came up with the name in high school about 10 years ago so I figured it was time for a change. The new project name, Minthe Prementha, is based on the Greek myth of the origin of mint, genus named mentha.

Would you tell us about the current your band and your future plans?
A
The current composition is one of community. The 4 of us, 3 of us are solo project writers and I have been playing drums for their respective projects for a few years off and on (Shoutout to Ample and Film). When we got out of quarantine I decided to ask them to play for Minthe Prementha as well. And I do have some stuff in the works. My music changes as I do so a lot of the newer stuff will be interesting to hear I would think.
And I’d say to check out my band mates Ample and Film. Ample just released new music and Film is working on the debut album for their current project. Also if you hear anything about Insert Collective, there will be some cool stuff coming from them soon.

バンド名を変更した理由を教えていただけますか？
A
Mothership Psychosisの時代は終わったと思う。この名前は、ソングライターとしての僕や、人としての僕にはもう似合わない。10年ほど前に高校生のときに思いついたもので、そろそろ変える時期だと思ったんだ。新しいプロジェクト名、Minthe Prementhaは、ギリシャ神話のミントの起源、menthaという属名に基づいている。

現在のバンドと今後の予定について教えてください。
A
バンドは、コミュニティのひとつでもある。私たち4人のうち、3人はソロプロジェクトをやっていて、僕は数年前から彼らのそれぞれのプロジェクトのためにドラムを叩いていた(AmpleとFilmに拍手) 。隔離された状態から抜け出したとき、彼らにMinthe Prementhaでも演奏してもらうことにした。それから、現在制作中の作品もある。僕の音楽は行動に合わせて変化していくので、新しい曲の多くは聴いて楽しんでもらえると思うよ。
それと、バンド仲間であるAmpleとFilmもチェックしてみて。Ampleは新曲をリリースしたばかりで、Filmは現在のプロジェクトのデビューアルバムを制作中だ。また、Insert Collectiveについて言えば、近いうちにクールな作品がリリースするだろうね。
