Oracle Sisters
Lewis from Denmark and Chris from Ireland, who grew up together in Belgium, met in Paris again about three years ago and they restarted their collaboration. Joined by Julia from Finland and They formed Oracle Sisters. The debut single ‘Always’, which was released in 2018, attracted much attention not only because of the music but also as a movie-like music video on the theme of a fictional journey. Last year, they were selected as one of The NME 100: Essential new artists for 2019. Hedi Slimane also participated in their live performances and took pictures of them. ‘Paris I’(ep) was released in July 2020.
ベルギーでともに育ったデンマーク出身のルイスとアイルランド出身のChrisが、約3年前にParisで再会をはたし共作をリスタート。そこにフィンランド出身のJuliaが加わり、Oracle Sistersを結成。2018年リリースしたデビューシングル‘Always’は、楽曲のよさのみならず、架空の旅をテーマにしたまるで映画のようなミュージックビデオで話題を集めた。昨年、彼らはUKの大手ロックメディアNMEが選ぶ新人100（The NME 100: Essential new artists for 2019）に選出され、今後UKでのプロモーションも本格化するそう。また、Hedi Slimaneも彼らのライブに参加し、彼らの撮影を敢行。2020年7月には ‘Paris I’ (ep) がリリースされた。

Alain Bibal
Alain is a Paris-based photographer. He began his career as a rock photographer in his mid-fifties after photographing the Arctic Monkeys live shows he attended as a public, as a hobby. He has photographed many legends including The Libertines, Paul Weller and Jarvis Cocker.
AlainはParis在住のフォトグラファー。彼は、一般人として参加したArctic Monkeysのライヴ写真を趣味で撮影したことがきっかけで、50代半ばにしてロックフォトグラファーとしてのキャリアをスタート。これまでに、The LibertinesやPaul Weller、Jarvis Cockerら多数のレジェンドを撮影してきた。

Please let us know your biography.
A
I’m 56 years old, born in the 60’s.
I’m starting Rock photography lately in May 2014 during an Arctic Monkeys gig in Finsbury park, London but things going great during these years especially with several UK or US bands that I followed specifically as The Libertines, The Dandy Warhols, Sleaford Mods, Brian Jonestown Massacre and a great French band The Liminanas with Anton Newcombe from BJM but this was before Covid. Hopefully I do silver prints of my best shots so I don’t exist only on digital way of life or medias…

What is the most important thing that you want to communicate to readers through these photo session with Oracle Sisters?
A
I just did a session with Julia Johansen a few days before Oracle’s session. Julia is a pro model and my goal was just do a classic band session liked others bands but I haven’t met Lewis and Chris before. Since March and lockdown in Paris, I didn’t have any opportunities with bands. My last shots were a Supergrass gig in London, so I was expecting a lot of that session. Like others bands I use B&W. Session were great but during Parisian summer heathwave so we feel like a bit in holidays…
I was thinking already to a ‘Jules and Jim’ (François Truffaut 1962’s movie) inspiration as we are in Paris, summertime and two boys and a girl which is not really usual for a band.

What camera do you use and why?
A
For a bands shots I use a Leica M7 (the last Leica analog camera circa 2002), an Elmarit 28mm f:2.8. and film is Ilford Delta 3200. I like Elmarit because wide angle and on the picture you can take pictures more than the band, the street is empty and film Delta 3200 because grain is unreal and it’s fit great for bands photography. I already launch a small 5×7″ (13x18cm) silver print of this one for my press agency in Paris.

Who inspires you?
A
As a Rock Photographer, 60’s and 70’s music and photographers are inspired me. Gered Mankowitz for Rolling Stones, Robert Freeman for The Beatles, Kevin Cummins for Joy Division, Pennie Smith for The Clash…

A
私は60年代生まれの56歳。
2014年5月にロンドンのFinsbury parkでのArctic Monkeysのギグの時にロック写真を始めたけれど、この数年間は特にThe Libertines、The Dandy Warhols、Sleaford Mods、Brian Jonestown Massacre、BJMのAnton Newcombeをフィーチャリングしていたフランスの偉大なバンドThe Liminanasを追っていたけれど、これはCovid（コロナウイルス感染症）の前のことだ。
デジタルといった手段だけで写真を残すのでなく、ベストショットはシルバープリントをしたいと思っている。

Oracle Sistersとのフォトセッションを通して、読者に一番伝えたいことは何ですか？
A
Oracle Sitersとのセッションの数日前に、（女性メンバーの）Julia Johansenのみで撮影をしたんだ。Juliaはプロのモデルなんだけれど、他のバンドを撮影するようにあくまでクラシックなバンドの撮影をするのが目的だったんだけど、LewisとChrisにはまだ会ったことがなかったんだ。(コロナウイルス感染症による)2020年の3月とパリでのロックダウン以来、しばらくバンド達と会う機会がなかった。最後に撮ったのがロンドンでのSupergrassのギグだったので、Oracle Sistersフルメンバーとのセッションはかなり期待して臨んだ。他のバンドと同じようにB&W（モノクロ）で撮影している。セッションは最高だったけど、パリの夏のヒースウェーブ（酷暑）の中での撮影だったので、ちょっとした休暇のような気分にに仕上がったね。夏のパリにいて、二人の男の子と女の子がいて、バンドとしてはあまりないので、‘突然炎のごとく’（フランソワ・トリュフォー1962年の映画）をイメージして撮影したよ。

使用しているカメラとその理由を教えてください。
A
バンドの撮影には、ライカM7（2002年頃の最後のライカのアナログカメラ）、エルマリート8mm f:2.8、フィルムはイルフォードのデルタ3200を使っている。広角のエルマリートが好きでなんだ。ストリートは空いていたし、バンドが演奏している時よりも自由に撮影できたね。粒が非現実的で、バンドの写真撮影のために素晴らしくフィットしているので、デルタ3200のフィルムを使用した（※光に対する感度が高く、一般的には暗い場所での撮影で使用されるフィルム。）。すでにパリのプレスエージェンシーのために小さな5×7″（13x18cm）のシルバープリントを提供したよ。

誰からインスピレーションを受けていますか？
A
ロック写真家として、60年代、70年代の音楽や写真家に影響を受けている。Gered MankowitzによるRolling Stones、 Robert FreemanによるThe Beatles、Kevin CumminsのJoy Division, Pennie SmithのThe Clashなどなど…
