彼らの最初のLPはMothership PsychosisのRandalがプロデュースしているから、プロダクションもすごくいいです。
僕はMothership PsychosisとThe Dead Beat が自由を体現しているところが気に入っています。
今後、このブログにて、カリフォルニアロックムーブメントの功績についての長い記事をSwmrsのレビューを通して紹介する予定なので、しばしお待ちください。

この作品で一番伝えたいことはどんなことですか？
A
JACOB:感情。最近の新しいジャンルの音楽が失ってしまった、古い世代が持っていた、生々しい感情的な表現が好きなんだ。音楽のシンプルなフレーズを通して、力強く、感情的な反応っていうのを呼び戻したいんだ。

それを実践するために、どのように作りましたか？
A
JACOB:LPの歌詞の多くは、僕が人生のなかで過ごした辛い時や、どんなにそれらが僕のまわりと対照的にヘビーなものだったかっていうのを扱っている。メロディーはハッピー鳴っているんだけど、歌詞自体は不機嫌でメランコリーなんだ。The Dead Beatのサウンドは、シンプルさ、力強いギター、ジャジーなパンクドラムによるシンコペートされたドラム、そして流れるようなベースのメロディーが相互に作用しあって形作られている。アートワークはトラッシーなパンクと南カリフォルニアのビーチによるメロウな美学のミックス。僕はそれをパステルパンクと呼んでいるよ。

探求している音楽のテーマは何ですか？
A
MAX:（人生を）楽しんでもらうこと、人生を楽しく過ごすこと。悪い時間も受け入れ、よいことを信じること。

The Dead Beat をバンド名にしたのは何故ですか?
A
MAX:なぜなら影響のすべてを持ち込もうとしたから。影響を受けた、たくさんのミュージシャンやジャンルは僕らのジェネレーションにはほとんど死んだようなものだったからね。

影響を受けたアーティストは誰ですか？
A
BRANDON: Buddy RichやArt Blakelyといった古いジャズのドラマーに影響を受けている。それらの興味深いパターンを自分独自のドラムに取り入れようとしているよ。Jacobと僕は Joe Armstrongのソングライティングも好きなんだ。彼の音楽が僕らの成長を助けてくれたよ。そしてまた、より新しい、楽しいガレージ、FIDLARや友達のSWMRSだね。昨年の夏、パリのSaint LaurentのショーでSWMRSを知ったんだ

A

What is the most important thing that you want to communicate to listeners through this?
A
JACOB: Emotion. I feel like a lot of the newer genres of music have lost touch with the raw emotional power that the older generations had. I want to bring that back to attention: powerful emotional responses through simple phrases of music.

For that , how did you try to make these songs?
Please teach me from the perspective of music , lyrics and artwork.
A
JACOB: a lot of the lyrics in our LP deal with me when I was going through hard times in my life and how they contrasted heavily with my surroundings ; the melody will sound happy but the lyrics themselves are a little more morose or melancholy. The Dead Beat sound I feel is characterized by simple, punchy guitar rhythms syncopated by jazzy punk drums and fluid bass melodies, I think they work well together. The artwork is a sort of mix of trashy punk aesthetic mellowed by the southern Californian beaches, I call it pastel punk.

What is the theme you are looking for through making music?
A
MAX:Having fun and enjoying life, accepting the bad times and believing in the good.

Why did you name The Dead Beat as a band name?
A
MAX:Because we want to bring together all of our influences, which are a lot of musicians and genres that are mostly ‘dead’ to our generation.

Who is artist inspire to you?
Or what song inspire to you?
A
BRANDON:I’m really inspired by the old jazz drummers like Buddy Rich and Art Blakely. I try to work some of those interesting patterns into my own drumming. Jacob and I really love Billie Joe Armstrong’s songwriting too. I think his music helped both of us through a lot growing up. Also, newer, fun, garage-y stuff like FIDLAR and our friends SWMRS, who I came to know through Hedi and Saint Laurent this past summer in Paris.

MAX:The Clash and The Beatles. Neither of those groups were afraid to push the boundaries of originality, and they weren’t content to spend their careers making similar sounding music, reusing the same style.

What is the theme of your fashion style?
For that, how did you form your style ?
A
BRANDON: A little eclectic. Punk rock meets Southern California beach rat I guess. Jacob likes to call it pastel punk and I think that fits pretty damn well. We’ve always found most of our clothes in thrift stores along the coast. I really love the clothes and looks that Hedi has been creating lately for Saint Laurent too. I feel like they have a some of that same vibe, and I think that’s really cool. I’m glad to be a part of everything he’s doing.
