Sofia Bolt is a solo project by French-born guitarist and songwriter Amelie Rousseaux. In early 2017, Amelie moved from Paris to Los Angeles. In the first months of LA she was immersed in American culture and music, surfing daily and reflecting on her relationship with her separated lover. Based on this experience, she created her debut LP ‘Waves’, released in July 2019.Later, her song ‘Get Out of my Head’ was selected as the soundtrack for CELINE AW 2020-21 SHOW in February 2020.

About The Show

CELINE AW 2020-21 SHOW by Hedi Slimane was his culmination collection. First of all, there has been his style that has not changed since long ago. It is Genderless and Glam Rock (represented by David Bowie). Next was the bourgeois fashion proposal starting from WOMENS AW 2019-20. He mixes the styles of brand founder Celine Vipiana with his respected Yves Saint-Laurent. Jewelry lines and haute couture also made their debut, which also had a huge impact.
Sofia Bolt, a solo project by Amelie, a guitarist and songwriter from France, provided the songs for the show. She broke up with her lover in Paris and moved to LA. And based on that experience she created LP ‘Waves’.
The work was recorded at Studio Revival at The Complex in LA. The recording was supported by Itai Shapira, who produced Rhye, and Emily Elhaj, who supported Angel Olsen. And the great mogul Van Dyke Parks participated in the strings arrangement of the ‘Waves’. He is an American musician who is also famous for participating in Brian Willson’s ‘Smile’. In Japan, he is also known for being the producer of Happy End LP ‘Happy End’.
In this LP, in addition to the inspiration at the Xintiandi LA, the sway of despair and attachment to Paris is expressed. For example, the show song ‘Get Out of My Head’ expresses the desire to start something new in LA. The last song ‘Waves’ sings, “I said I’d move back to France for you / Thank God you told me not to” .” In short, this work is a very delicate personal one.
Hedi may have superimposed himself on Amelie. He has been documenting music, culture and youth. They were also his own documents. Themes that remain the same (youth, genderless, glam), the rebirth of brands with reference to the archives, alone cannot explain the freshness of this show. The charm of this show is a metaphor that his mind was also returning from LA to Paris again.
(AW 2020-21 SHOW is, looked like a Paris version of the AW 2016-17 Palladium Collection. Lily McMenamy, who participated in both shows, was symbolic.)
It is of course very personal. Moreover, it is an emotion of a certain period. Amelie’s song spoke for him. Hedi puts his honest feelings into the show. That’s one of the reasons he continues to be loved by people.

Hedi SlimaneによるCELINE AW 2020-21 SHOWは、彼の集大成とも言えるコレクションでした。まず、昔から変わらない彼のスタイル、ジェンダレスとDavid Bowieへのオマージュがありました。次に、WOMENS AW 2019-20より本格的にスタートさせたブルジョワのファッションの提案でした。ブランド創始者のCeline Vipiana、彼の尊敬するYves Saint-Laurentのスタイルを復活させています。さらに、ジュエリーラインやオートクチュールもデビューし、大きな反響を呼びました。

作品はLAのスタジオRevival at The Complexでレコーディングされました。制作にはRhyeをプロデュースしたItai Shapiraや、Angel Olsenのサポートを務めたEmily Elhajらが参加。そして、大御所のVan Dyke Parksが’Waves’のストリングスのアレンジで参加しています。彼はBrian Willsonの’Smile’に参加したことでも有名なアメリカのミュージシャンです。日本では、はっぴいえんどのLP ’Happy End’のプロデューサーを務めたことでも有名です。
このLPでは、新天地LAでのインスピレーションに加え、パリに対する絶望と愛着の揺れ動きも表現されています。例えば、ショーの楽曲’Get Out of My Head’は、LAで新しいことを始めたいという欲求の発露を表現しています。最後の楽曲’Waves’では、 “私はあなたのためにフランスに戻りたい”と歌っています。つまりこの作品は、非常に繊細な個人的な作品なのです。
HediはAmelieに自分自身を重ね合わせたのかもしれません。彼はこれまで音楽やカルチャー、ユースのドキュメントを行ってきました。それらは彼自身のドキュメントでもあったのです。変わらないテーマ（ユース、ジェンダレス、グラム）、アーカイブを参照したブランドの再生、、、それだけでは、このショーの新鮮さを説明できません。このショーの魅力は、彼の心がLAからパリへと再び戻っていったことのメタファーでもあったことです。
(AW 2020-21 SHOWは、まるでAW 2016-17 Palladium CollectionのParis版のように見えました。両方のショーに参加したLily McMenamyが象徴的でした)
それはもちろんすごく個人的なものです。しかも、ある特定の時期の感情です。その彼の想いを代弁したのが、Amelieの歌でした。Hediは正直な今の気持ちをショーに忍ばせます。それこそが彼が人々から愛され続ける理由の一つでしょう。

What is the most important thing that you want to communicate to listeners through this LP?
A
I wrote the record soon after I moved from Paris to Los Angeles, it tells the story of transition, rebirth, and self-discovery.

How did you try to make and arrange ‘Get Out Of My Head’for the show?
A
Jarvis Taveniere and I looped a lot of the original song, replacing the choruses with more intimate whispered vocals and adding, replacing certain instruments and sections. We also created an eery and intriguing bass intro with Emily Elhaj.

How did you feel after CELINE show?
A
Very impressed and inspired by the production. I’m glad I could be there to see it.
