‘LES ECRANS ALLUMES’
♪PROFILE♪
The band was founded in 2012 by Antoine (producer and bass, keyboard, vocals) and Emmanuelle (vocals). They pursue the expression of love using experimental techniques, such as breaking the rules of the chords and minimally verbal lyrics. Then Annie (guitar, vocalist /a leader of the ‘Grand Parc’ project), and Guillaume (drums / jazz improvised drummer) participated. In 2018, They released 1st album ‘Embrasse Moi ‘. In 2019, a long version of the song ‘J’ ai Un Plan’ included in the album, ‘Les Écrans Allumés’, was produced for CELINE WOMEN’S AW 2019-20 SHOW. In the same year, ‘La Marche des Morts’ (ep) was released in November. They live in Caen Normandy, France.

Antoine(プロデューサー兼ベース、キーボード、ヴォーカル)とEmmanuelle（ヴォーカル）の二人によって、2012年に設立された。コードのルールを破ること、最小限の言葉使った歌詞などの実験的な手法で、愛の表現を追求している。Annie（ギター、ヴォーカル／Grand Parcプロジェクトのリーダー）、Guillaume（ドラムス／ジャズの即興ドラマー）が参加し、現在の編成となった。2018年には1stアルバム ‘Embrasse Moi’をリリース。2019年には、その作品に収録された‘J’ai Un Plan’という曲のロングヴァージョン‘Les Écrans Allumés’がCeline Women’s Autumn/Winter 2019-2020 Collectionのために制作。同年、11月には ‘La Marche des Morts’（ep）をリリースした。彼らはフランスのノルマンディーのカーンで暮らしている。

The collection that has had the greatest impact on the market since Hedi Slimane directed Celine would be Celine Women’s Autumn/Winter 2019-2020 Collection. At this show, Hedi renewed the trend by dare to suggest an outdated 70’s bourgeois fashion.
The show features gray jackets, white blouses, knee-length culottes, long boots, and gold bracelets, reminiscent of a college girl from the 70s and 80s. It was also impressive that his symbolic black was suppressed.
When I saw this show, I remembered the first time I saw the Saint Laurent Paris Men’s Spring/Summer 2016 Surf Sound Collection. What was common to the two collections was that what seemed not cool at that time was recognized as fashionable in both show. The surprise disappears as new proposals become mainstream. Conversely, once mainstream trends are being driven away in the past.
Magic of street created by Demna(Balenciaga) has disappeared. Triple S is no longer fresh to consumers. A trend of LA Rock fashion created by Hedi before had been extended by his followers including Anthony(Saint Laurent) and Amiri make copies. But He stopped its trend by himself.
Hedi understands that fashion is not absolute, but relative values. And he consciously shakes our perception and creates a new era.
An integral part of this collection for Hedi was the soundtrack of Embrasse Moi. It’s really French work. It’s a club-like electric sound, the voice of woman are clear. The band likes the French national singer Édith Piaf. They are, like Marlon of La Femme, the successor to the Frenchness of music.
Antoine, the founder of the band, has been a musician since 2001. He used to play jazz and improvised music, but eventually became interested in pop music. He was looking for a singer to add a song to the instrumental music, but he met vocalist Emmanuelle and the band started. They make use of the beautiful sound of French in their songs and express intimate moments. Due to that band is mixed gender arrangement, there are the kind of tension just like Serge Gainsbourg and Jane Birkin. It is also attractive.
The original song ‘J’ ai Un Plan ‘ (includes in 1st album) is not only shorter but also quite different from the soundtrack’ Les ‘crans Allumés’. This is also good, so please check it out too.

Hedi SlimaneがCelineをディレクションするようになって以来、市場にもっとも大きな影響を与えたコレクションは、やはりCeline Women’s Autumn/Winter 2019-2020 Collectionだろう。このショーにおいて、Hediは時代遅れとなっていた70年代のブルジョワファッションをあえて提案し、トレンドを刷新した。
ショーではグレーのジャケットに白いブラウス、膝までの長さのキュロット、ウェッジブーツ、金のブレスレットなど、70～80年代のパリの女子大生を思わせるアイテムが登場。彼の象徴でもある黒が抑えられていたのも印象的だった。
このショーを見た当時、私はSaint Laurent Paris Men’s Spring/Summer 2016 Surf Sound Collectionのショーを初めて見た時のことを思い出した。２つのコレクションに共通していたのが、これまでクールではないと思われたものが、ファッショナブルなものとして認識されたことだ。その驚きは、新しい提案がメインストリームとなることで消えていった。逆に、かつて主流だったトレンドは過去に追いやられていく。Demna(Balenciaga)が仕掛けたストリートの魔法は解けた。もう消費者にはトリプルSは新鮮に映らないのである。そしてHedi自身が作り上げたLAのロックファッションの流行もまた、それらは彼のフォロワーであるAnthony(Saint Laurent)やAmiriらのフォロワーが延命処置を行ってきたが、彼自身がストップさせました。
Hediはファッションは絶対的なものではなく、あくまで相対的な価値観だと理解している。そして彼は意識的に、我々の認識に揺さぶりをかけ、新しい時代を創造していく。
Hediにとってこのコレクションに欠かせなかったのが、Embrasse Moiのサウンドトラックである。それはあまりにフランスらしい作品だ。クラブっぽいエレクトリックなサウンドでもあり、それでいて女性の声が冴え渡る。バンドは、フランスの国民的歌手Édith Piaf(エディット・ピアフ)をフェイバリットにあげている。彼らは、La FemmeのMarlon同様、音楽のフレンチネスの継承者なのである。
バンドの発起人でもあるAntoineは、2001年よりミュージシャンとして活動している。彼はこれまで、ジャズや即興音楽を演奏していましたが、やがてポップミュージックに興味が移っていきました。彼は、インストゥルメンタルの楽曲に歌を加えるため、歌手を探していたところ、ボーカルのEmmanuelleに出会い、バンドがスタートした。彼らは楽曲において、フランス語の美しい響きを生かし、親密な瞬間を表現している。男女混合の編成ということもあってか、Serge GainsbourgとJane Birkinに通ずる、バンド内のある種の緊張感も魅力的である。

A
Still because of love. To say “Embrasse Moi” is the best way to disarm somebody.

What is the most important thing that you want to communicate to listeners through ‘Les Écrans Allumés’?

This song is about when you wait for your boyfriend,the fears because he travels very often and he can meets other women.

How did you try to make song for that?
A
‘Les Écrans Allumés’ is an very long version of ‘J’ai Un Plan’, the second song of the album ‘Embrasse Moi’ we did 2 years ago.I worked with Hedi Slimane and the Celine team to have the perfect piece for the fashion show. We extended the lyrics and the music to have this 20 minutes form. Then was born ‘Les Écrans Allumés’.
Now, we are in the middle of the making of a new album. The music will still be repetitive and Psychédelic.This will be very frenchy and clubby. As it’s very fresh and not finished, we can’t tell more for now. The point is we are very proud of what is going on.

‘Les Écrans Allumés’は、2年前にリリースしアルバム’Embrasse Moi’の2番目の曲の ‘J’ai Un Plan’のとても長いバージョンです。Hedi SlimaneとCelineのチームと協力して、ファッションショーにぴったりの作品に作り直しました。歌詞と曲を長くアレンジし、この20分の形にし、‘Les Écrans Allumés’が完成しました。
現在、私たちは新しいアルバムを制作しています。音楽は変わらず反復的でサイケデリックです。フランスのクラブっぽい感じになると思います。まだまだ制作中で仕上がってもいないので、今のところこれ以上はお伝えできません。ただ重要なことは、今制作している作品に対して、とても誇りがあるということです。
